Personal Statement

I am striving toward an English degree and writing certificate because of the emphasis on writing and editing skills, which are applicable in a number of fields. My experience has also allowed me to become an intern for two literary magazines through the school: Canyon Voices and Superstition Review. Through both, I have gathered much knowledge about the editing process and working closely with an author to perfect their writing.
I am a strong editor and writer, which can be especially seen in my work at Green Living magazine. There, I wrote social media posts, blog posts, and articles, as well as proof reading all pages of the magazine before they were sent to print each month. I worked quickly and efficiently to produce all editing and writing pieces so that they met the deadline.
To further acquaint you with the specifics of my background, I have enclosed my portfolio. In it, you will find samples of my editing with the PEN Project and Canyon Voices, as well as the work I did for Superstition Review. Furthermore, you will find samples of my blog posts and articles written specifically for Green Living magazine.
